New Clothes and Rainy Weekend

I was excited to see that my package from Express arrived this weekend! I realized that I had like, zero sweaters and it’s been cold, so I ordered a couple, and then a couple things that were priced ridiculously low…

Sparkly Tank Top (because who can resist sparkly things?)

Red Jersey/Knit dress (Because red dresses are hawt)

Black Patent Leather Heels (3 inch, shorter than normal and for work)

I love getting packages in the mail…it’s my favorite…

Anyway, so Express happened…and then blisters from the black patent heels happened (all part of breaking them in, i’m an ex-ballerina, it was no biggie…there wasn’t even any blood) lol

I went on my usual Saturday 4+ mile run…I caught almost all green lights which was unusual…it made my legs more tired earlier on because there was no stopping…but I powered through it as well as I could. The wind was against me during the last 1-2 mile stretch, but I made it work…The more I run on the weekends, the fewer stops I have to make…I feel like I am almost to a point where I ca start adding a mile or two to my run! :)

I spent the rest of Saturday hanging out with this guy here…

The we woke up to lots of rain on Sunday morning…we made the most of it with hot cocoa :)

I read more of The Thirteenth Tale while my Fluffy yelled at the TV screen played Modern Warfare 3.

Then I went shopping for Thanksgiving goodies!

I was able to use coupons to save about 40%…not as much as I would have liked to save, but definitely better than nothing!

I got:

  • stuff for pumpkin pie
  • stuff for garlic mashed potatoes
  • stuff for crescent rolls with parm and pancetta
  • regular grocery stuff for the week
I have a lot of cooking to do on Wednesday and then on Thanksgiving up at Grandma’s, but I am looking forward to it! New recipes to try, and old ones to bring back all traditional styles…
For dinner I made a healthier version of spaghetti…apologies for not having photos, but here’s the recipe:
1 jar tomato/basil pasta sauce
1 lb ground turkey
1 package whole wheat spaghetti noodles
grated parmesan cheese
In a large saucepan, bring pasta water to a boil, adding a pinch of salt and olive oil. While waiting for the water to be ready, cook ground turkey on medium/high until cooked through, seasoning with garlic, salt, black pepper, dried basil, and Trader Joes 21 seasoning salute. Drain and add tomato sauce, reducing heat to simmer. By now the pasta water should be boiling…stir in the spaghetti noodles slowly, until covered completely, reduce heat to medium, stirring occasionally. Once pasta is “al dente,” drain, and put pack into pan, adding 1-2 Tb olive oil to keep pasta from sticking. Serve pasta with sauce over the top, garnishing with grated parmesan cheese, and dried basil.

After that we finished the evening with our current Netflix pick: The Lincoln Lawyer…it was pretty good!

Kettlebell Koolness

I have new exercise equipment…a kettlebell!! I picked it up at a used sports equipment store over the weekend…it’s a 9lb kettlebell for which I paid just under $16. I decided to break in my kettlebell by trying out a workout I got from one of my exercise magazines. I started off with a nice 1 mile jog to get warmed up, and then I did the following routine, for which I have provided the video link to see the instructional at self.com:

1. Overhead Press (10 reps each arm)

2. Tactical Lunges (10 reps each leg)

3. Deck Squats (10 reps)

4. The Halo (10 reps each direction)

5. One Arm Swing (10 reps each arm)

6. Swing Catch-Squat (10 reps)

I then repeated the 6 steps for a second round, and then stretched afterwards. Dang my legs hurt today!!
