Walking The Plank

I am stoked. Why? I’ll tell you why…

I have a 2 minute plank now!!!

I’ve been working on it 20 second increments at a time, and it’s truly paying off.

I have been a little dissatisfied with myself for not controlling my diet better. It makes me grumpy like this:

But yesterday at body pump my hard work on my planks proved to be worth it when I out-planked the instructor. She had to modify towards the end of the song when we were doing our plank reaches with opposite arms and legs as well as leg lifts in side plank AND I DIDN’T HAVE TO MODIFY…I JUST HANDLED IT LIKE A BAWWSSS. :)

I don’t say this to put her down or say I’m better than her in any way…because believe me when it comes to cleans and squats and anything else with a barbell she kicks my ass hands down…but it was just nice to have that small victory to tell me I’m doing something right. So go me.

In other news, I got to spend a great day barbequeing at the beach on Sunday with a couple of my dear friends who moved to the Bay but were down visiting!

Yes…that would be tri-tip, lobster tail, and asparagus …and we had s’mores later as well!

Yeah…I’m aware I live in Paradise …its pretty amazing. :)

So that was my weekend highlight and work week highlight. Looking forward to Zumba today, as well as getting laser imaging for my final Invisalign set…

Hydration Matters

Ugh…so yeah…when you up your exercise level, you also need to adjust you calorie intake and water intake.

This is easier said than done because of the habits we make. I am definitely a creature of habit. I rely on my schedule and cram too much into it. Weekends are spent in bed watching TV unless I plan ahead. I think this is why I love Lindsay ‘s blog. She keeps lists…I am also a habitual listmaker. :)

But I digress…

I am currently a client of Miss Tina Reale and I LOVE the workout plan she made. It’s kicking my butt into gear.

BUT…

My appetite has increased and my need for fluids has as well. I try to drink two 32oz waters per day:

Water with lemon slices make it not taste like $hit.

But it doesn’t always work. Also, try to eat healthy snacks like:

Bananas, Trail Mix, and Protein Bars are my world.

But I keep also eating ice cream, candy, etc. I also keep attending events where drinking is involved.

The problem I have created is that I am eating and drinking more of the wrong things.

This has lead to this:

Drugs are bad, mmm kay?

Bladder infection. Yucky and painful! And prolly TMI but its my blog so whatever. :) -

So what have we learned?

1) Exercise is good.

2) Too much sugar, refined carbs, and other empty calories plus too little water are bad.

3) Combining 1 and 2 can equal immediate health issues.

4) The power of consequences may just be my saving grace. Hello salads, healthy snacks, and WATER, WATER, WATER.
